Gräsgård harbour is one of the largest fishing harbours on Öland. The harbour is located on the south eastern side of Öland and is used yet today by professional fishermen that fish for salmon and other fish. The area north of the harbour is, in the winter, a refuge for seabirds and is commonly frequented by birdwatchers.
Near Gräsgård, in the middle of Alvaret, is the reconstructed Eketorp castle. The castle is originally from the Iron Age. It was considerably enlarged during the early Middle Ages so that the population of southern Öland could seek protection there from hostile warriors that came from the sea.
