Kaliningrad Port is divided into four shipping areas: Kaliningrad shipping area, Svetlovsky shipping area, Baltic shipping area and distant Pionersky area. Port berths with their total length of 17 km are located on the north side of the Kaliningrad river channel and mouth part of the Pregol river with its harbours. Seventeen stevedoring companies offer their transshipment service: oil and oil products, coal, coke, lumber and lumber products (saw timber, plywood, cellulose and paper), ferrous metals, ferroalloy, fertilizer (liquid, in bulk) and grain. Five new terminals are to be developed and built. Water areas of fishing and trading ports border and include three artificial harbors: Free Zone, Industrial Zone, Lumber Zone and a part of the Pregol river.
